After a long hiatus from acting, Melissa George is back with Apple TV’s 2021 drama called The Mosquito Coast. With a gripping first season, the network renewed the show for a second season, all set to release on November 4. In an exclusive interview with Variety, the Alias actress took a trip down memory lane and spoke about her previous roles.

With many horror films in her portfolio, the Australian-American star, surprisingly, used to be unsure of choosing those projects. She was afraid of being typecast in the said roles and of not being recognized for her acting prowess.

I was ashamed, in a weird way, that a horror ‘theme’ can take away from the performance, revealed George.

That is why, for The Amityville Horror, she wanted the audience to perceive her performance as a “well-acted piece.” She wanted to make absolutely sure that people remember the movie not just for the scares, but also for the story and performance.

With Ryan Reynolds, we went Method. I burst all the vessels in my face just by screaming so much. Your body doesn’t realize it’s just a movie,” reminisced the 30 Days of Night star.

The film followed the Lutzes, a newlywed couple George (Ryan Reynolds) and Kathy (Melissa George) who move to a gorgeous house in the quaint town of Amityville. After various eerie occurrences, they uncover that a year ago, several murders took place on the site of their new home.
