A 39-Year-Old Space Opera From Oscar Nominated Director Is Now Streaming on Netflix
Though subscribers are constantly demanding the renewal of canceled shows, Netflix is standing the test of time strongly. The streaming giant is doing everything in its power to keep people entertained. Fans might have noticed that they are making efforts to attract viewers with some classic content this time. From biopics to iconic comedies, dramas, and thrillers, plenty of content gets uploaded to the platform. Now this eye-catching list has added another decades-old gem created by the famed director.
The streamer recently made an exciting announcement on their official Twitter account. It showed pictures from the 1984 Dune directed by David Lynch which is now available on Netflix. The title of the film might make people think that it has some connection with the 2021 movie. Yes, it does! The latest film is the third adaptation of the same franchise, which developed a cut following over the years.

This debut movie is based on the same-name novel by Frank Herbert and has a large ensemble cast of supporting actors including Patrick Stewart, Brad Dourif, Virginia Madsen, Dean Stockwell, José Ferrer, Linda Hunt, Sting, and Max von Sydow. The headlining face is Kyle MacLachlan who played the role of young nobleman Paul Atreides.
It appears that the streamer has taken it upon themselves to give all the underdog movies a chance to take the limelight. This is why they brought this box-office box which failed to capture the essence of the novel on-screen. Moreover, Lynch largely disowned the film before its release and had his name removed from the credit list. It remains unclear why he took this action after giving his contribution to the production. However, one cannot deny that the storyline has always remained popular among people.

Set in the distant future, the film focuses on the dispute between rival noble families who want to rule their planet Arrakis. From far away, this place might seem just an extremely harsh desert without resources. However, the place is the ultimate source of a drug called melange, which is the only vessel for space travel.
The same story is followed up by the latest movie after all the failed attempts and turned out successful. The movie earned $402 million on a $165 million budget taking place in the top 10 movies of 2021.
