A Regal Recollection: ‘The Crown’s Breakthrough Actress Elizabeth Debicki’s Favorite Memory from the Fantasy Series
Since its release in 2016, the fantasy series The Crown has been breaking the streaming behemoth Netflix’s viewership numbers. The show also resulted in breakout performances from all of the performers participating, most notably Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana. Furthermore, the first volume of season 6 displayed her actual caliber as a performer. While the actress was extremely vocal about the hardships she endured while filming, during a recent red carpet appearance, she revealed some fantastic on-set moments.
In a recent video, the actress can be seen recalling wonderful moments on set.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 33-year-old actress claimed that she “loves working with the boys” who play her children in the series. In the series, Teddy Hawley and Timothee Sambor play the youthful Prince Harry and Prince William. The actress went on to say, “I just adore them” and that their simple presence on the filming set made her joyful.
During her time on set, Debicki found the child performers to be the “loveliest” and “sweetest” children. They were also “really there” for her when she was having a difficult time on set. Interestingly, the actors were cast in the hit series in 2021 after certain media outlets witnessed them filming sequences for the show alongside Debicki at Dunsfold Aerodrome, Surrey. They were recreating the scenario in which the family arrived for a royal flight to Italy.
While the actress’s sweet message for the child performers struck everyone’s heartstrings, in a previous interview, she also discussed a fairly sensitive aspect of filming the popular Netflix series.

When Princess Diana died in 1997, Debicki was only nine years old. She used the same childhood memories to recreate the Princesses’ final scenes on the Netflix blockbuster. She told Deadline that she remembered her mother sobbing after hearing the news about the People’s Princess’s demise. Further, because she was young, she did not grasp what was going on. Her mother, on the other hand, made her sit and informed her who she was and what she meant to the people.
The first four episodes of the series detail the events leading up to her death. Furthermore, the immediate aftermath includes visions of the late Princess interacting with the late monarch Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, which some consider to be a “ghost” episode. In response, the actress noted that it is a “beautiful way to have a conversation” about loss and remember someone affectionately, rather than a ghost.
