Will Byers is perhaps the least explored character in the entirety of Stranger Things. There is nothing about him known, other than the suffering he is defined by. While every other character had their personal journeys on the show, Will has remained somewhat detached from every character, well, except Vecna. Following Season 4, there swirled a lot of speculation regarding Will's potential hidden feelings for his best friend, Mike Wheeler. There had even been many fan pages shipping the two characters' union. 

While they have long held out hope for Will to finally find his well-deserved happiness, some new insider reports are making it seem even more plausible. 

Stranger Things News on X recently shared some exciting updates, based on some sources who DM’d them, regarding Will Byers’ character in season 5 of the show. The page confirmed that Will would have a love interest in season 5, however, for all the Byler stans, it is “most likely not” to be Mike Wheeler. It also confirmed that Chance, from Jason Carver’s group, does not stand a chance either. But the biggest bummer is, despite having a love interest, there is no word on whether Will would like this person back. 

This came right after Ross Duffer recently shared an update regarding Stranger Things season 5. The filming of the final season has finally reached its halfway point, although there will be a ton of post-production work. While fans were ecstatic by this update, they also noticed some mysterious people blurred among the group. Now that could either be some new additions that the makers do not want to reveal yet, or some written-off characters making a comeback. And Joseph Quinn has already teased it. 

‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Drops a Major Update for Will Byers Amidst Ongoing Production

Joseph Quinn gave a shocking response when asked whether he would like to reunite with his Stranger Things team.

Joseph Quinn stopped by for a chat with Entertainment Tonight last month during the New York premiere of his new sci-fi horror thriller, A Quiet Place: Day One. When asked about reuniting with Stranger Things co-stars and creators, Quinn shared that the "chances are high". Although this statement was quite vague as he later added, “I love those guys! I'd love to say hello”, this could have also been a coy tease of his comeback. 

Eddie Munson quickly became a favorite in the fandom and his loss was heartbreaking, to say the least. However, there is a good enough chance that the blurred person in the picture is Max, Sadie Sink, in her recovered form, that the makers do not want to spoil yet. Nonetheless, there is no doubt that fans would love to see Will getting some respite from his usual and constant suffering before he becomes a sacrificial lamb of the show again.
