Matthias Schoenaerts from his debut movie up until his recent work finds himself in the close vicinity of movies destined for the awards or for the awards or those that emerge a dark horse. Such was the case of his emotional thriller, The Mustang, in 2019 that garnered an elite rating on Rotten Tomatoes, despite only bringing a collection of $6.7 million at the box office. As often is the case with flicks soaked in emotional vulnerability and the blues of life, many did not even give it a chance. Except for arguably the biggest streamer.

Marveling at the incredible performance of Matthias Schoenaerts, the OTT Mogul announced that The Mustang will be streaming on Netflix. The streamer is known for digging out old gold and bringing glory to projects that had immense potential but failed at the box office for one reason or another. While The Mustang showed no resemblance to the entity at the helm of affairs in terms of popularity, will it manage to turn the tides with its Netflix release?

Directed by Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, the movie had the ability to make anyone that watched it go through a rollercoaster of emotions. But owing to the lack of promotions or a glitzy cast, it did not make the audience go through a roller coaster of emotions in order to watch it. As is the case with the upcoming Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. The Rotten Tomatoes reviews, however, could not help but be poetic about it.

The love seems to have carried over to the streaming giant, as the movie, within a day of its release on the 26th of April, rose to the ranks of the top three in the United States.

It already seems to be on a swift and successful ride. Given the powerful performances of the actor, this comes as obvious to those who had already witnessed it.

What is the Matthias Schoenaerts starrer about?

The beauty of the flick lies not only in the character development of Roman Coleman, an inmate of twelve years. Coleman, despite the years spent in prison, has yet to conquer his greatest fear and a key reason behind why is behind bars.

It more or less lies in how he finds his redemption in the eyes of the untamable and ruthless Mustang, Marquis. The character development takes an unexpected arc as it does not come from the inmate who needs it, but from the bond he makes with a Mustang and an abandoned daughter.
