Henry Cavill’s Final Appearance On ‘The Witcher’ Is Topping Nielsen’s Top 10 Streaming List
The world of The Witcher had been going through a rough patch after the news of Henry Cavill’s exit from the show surfaced. This also led to lower ratings for the latest season. However, Cavill’s departure wasn’t the only reason for this steep drop in the rating. The series’ shift from its literary roots and a downfall in character depth also contributed to the loss in viewership. With a disappointing rating of 22 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, no one would have thought the series could bring its lost charm back. But it seems like The Witcher is back in the game.
Recently, Nielsen Streaming Platform Ratings released its list of the latest US ranking of streaming originals. The Witcher had bounced back stronger than before in its top 10 list, despite its setbacks in the past.

The Witcher season 3 was released back in June, which fell short of the enchantment it created in the first seasons, resulting in a dismal rating from both critics and audience. Fans who had high hopes from volume 2 since it was the last episode of the iconic Geralt, got further disappointed by Cavill’s lack of screen time. However, The Witcher significantly improved its viewership in the week of July 24, as per Nealson Streaming Platform Ratings.
While Sweet Magnolias topped at no.1 in the list with a whopping 1.4 billion minutes of viewership across 30 total episodes, The Witcher was not trailing behind either. It garnered an enormous 870 million minutes of viewership across 24 episodes, securing a second spot on the list. The list was further followed by two other popular Netflix shows, The Lincoln Lawyer and Quarterback.
With such a response in the last few episodes of Cavill, it is safe to say that the star has created an irreplaceable space for himself in the Witcherverse.

The 40-year-old actor was already a legendary actor before he joined the franchise. With roles in movies like Man of Steel, Hellraiser: Hellworld, and Red Riding Hood, Cavill was already a household name. Owing to his fascination for The Witcher video games and fantasy novels, he gave it his all to bag a role in the Lauren Schmidt Hissrich project. Surpassing all the 206 actors who auditioned for this lead role, he proved to the world why he was the best casting choice for Geralt.
Cavill’s first season of The Witcher received a rating of 89% from the audience and his second season also received incredible ratings from the critics. While it is uncertain whether The Witcher will be the same after Cavill’s departure, the makers’ attempt to bring the series closer to its source has at least made lore lovers hopeful.
