If there is any show or season that has made people wait eagerly, it has to be The Witcher season three. Fans just cannot wait for them to see the shape of the new season and what new monsters or continents will be introduced this time. Since the release is still more than a year away, we fans will have to make do with filming updates. Luckily, there is a new Ciri update from the sets of The Witcher 3.
Freya is shooting Ciri scenes for The Witcher in a forest
For over two months, filming for the next season of The Witcher has been in full swing. It all started in Central Europe, with Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan in attendance. They then proceeded back to England, where they shot in studio and on location, including Belleteyn in Epping Forest.
The Witcher is back on site after nearly a month in the studio. The Swinley Forest, which is only a drive away from Longcross Studios, is the destination this time. Ciri, played by Freya Allan, includes those who are shooting.
It’s possible that Cavill and Chalotra will be present. Gandja Monteiro, who is directing episodes 3 and 4 of the current season, is filming the sequences. In fact, she was spotted with her DoP Dale McCready, surveying the same woodland a little over a week ago.
Next stop: Wales
Gandja Monteiro has also investigated many locations in South Wales, indicating their intention to film there shortly. We don’t have specific dates, but given that Stephen Surjik‘s block of episodes is over and it’s Monteiro’s turn to film her block of episodes, Wales must be somewhere in the next several weeks. So if you’re from Wales and want to see what they’re up to, just wait a little longer!
Season 3 of The Witcher will be in production until September 2022, with a release date of 2023. Meanwhile, The Witcher: Blood Origin, a live-action prequel, is presently in post-production following two weeks of reshoots, with a Christmas 2022 release date in mind.
What is your prediction for what could they be shooting in the forests? Let us know in the comments.
