When there is a dearth of comedy films what do we do? We go back to our favorite classic comedies. The 2004 Rawson Marshall Thurber-directed movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story starring Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn is still regarded as one of the best sports comedy films ever made. Dodgeball also stars Ozark’s leading man, Jason Bateman. His character, Pepper Brooks, is one half of the commentary team, The Ocho, that had the best lines in the entire flick. 

What is the plot of Jason Bateman starrer Dodgeball?

Ben Stiller plays White Goodman, a big conglomerate chain that owns Globo Gyms. Next, he wishes to buy Peter LaFleur’s (Vince Vaughn) gym. But Peter doesn’t want to give it up. He has to pay $500,000 in the stipulated time to save his gym. With no way, Peter and his gym friends team up to win a dodgeball tournament. Meanwhile, White creates a team of his own to compete with Peter’s. And at the dodgeball tournament, Peter Brooks (Jason Bateman) and Coton McKnight (Gary Cole) serve as the commentator.  

In a movie that is chock full of comedic elements, the duo brings their best jokes to the table. Fans still haven’t forgotten, “If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.”
