Netflix has signed a deal with Sony, which will allow Sony’s films to be released on Netflix after their theatrical releases.

Sony is not hitting the breaks on the movies front. They have recently taken initiative and stopped selling TV content on PlayStation Store, and it’s been long for a long time that they’re working on their video game adaptations The Last of Us and Uncharted. Sony has also been reported lately to be working on new video game adaptations such as Horizon: Zero Dawn and Demon’s Souls. Those rumors make more sense now, as Netflix has signed a deal with Sony, which will allow the latter’s content to be released on Netflix.

Both Sony and Netflix have been focusing on content about video games lately. Sony is working on its adaptations, and they’re reportedly is plenty more to come from them. Meanwhile, Netflix is shining with DOTA: Dragon’s Blood and The Witcher. All this combined lays the required framework for a possible deal between Sony and Netflix. This deal means that we might get to watch Demon’s Souls and Horizon: Zero Dawn movies on Netflix, sooner or later. Sony’s movies set to release in 2022 will also be on Netflix immediately after their theatrical releases. The popular streaming platform is also planning on licensing Sony’s old movies. As of now, we know Uncharted and Morbius are coming to Netflix upon their releases. The sequels planned for Jumanji and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse are also highly likely to be on Netflix.
