A lot has changed for the Duchess of Sussex in a year, but the extreme probe into her ventures is definitely not one of them. Hot on the heels of the drum rolls of Meghan Markle’s Netflix venture, With Love, Meghan, she has once again found herself in the hot waters of criticism online. However, the backlash is not because of her turning a new page in her life but the reported similarities with another storybook written by none other than the Baywatch icon, Pamela Anderson.

Recent reports have raised eyebrows for the Duchess’ streaming project for getting too dangerously close to Anderson’s cooking show and the co-creator of the latter has addressed the matter.

After the negative buzz surrounding With Love, Meghan, Jesse Fawcett, the co-creator, co-writer, and executive producer of Pamela’s Cooking With Love, talked to Daily Mail, shedding light on the conjectures of With Love, Meghan, being a rip-off. Fawcett was not concerned, to say the least. “It’s a compliment to see our work with Ms Anderson resonate so strongly,” he said. However, the reviewers were not really about to let this slide.

“So similar it’s freaky,” one of them reportedly said, while many others branded it with names like “copycat.” Fans have even found striking similarities between their trailers, their sentiments, and expressions like where Pamela Anderson uses honey for cooking and Meghan Markle tended beehives. Although Netflix insiders claim Ted Sarandos is only interested in the “bottom line,” sources close to the Baywatch icon took a jab at the Duchess, pointing out she always “flip-flops.”

That said, there are still some flying concerns about the Sussexes’ Netflix contract.

What is the future of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix contract?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been attached to Netflix since 2020, meaning their 5-year deal is about to end in 2025. The Sussexes produced a few projects that fell flat on their faces except for their hit series, Harry & Meghan. As Markle gears up for the eight-part Netflix venture, With Love, Meghan, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams shared with GB News that the contract may be renewed but probably not on their terms.

Fitzwilliams noted Netflix’s interest in As Ever, her rebranded lifestyle venture, where the streaming giant has been stocking some of the products for their new shopping malls. Though this looks good for their Netflix future, he speculated that the renewal agreement may not be on the terms that were originally stamped upon. While this looks like a gloomy cloud on the Duke and Duchess’ heads, it is too soon to say anything for sure.
