Netflix to Rope in Hugh Jackman’s Sci-Fi Disaster Following His Highly Anticipated $1 Billion Box Office Bid
Hugh Jackman is best known as Wolverine. The reason being that he had only a few film credits to his name before he landed the X-Men mutant's role. That being said, the Australian actor has made sure to test his boundaries across different genres. Some have worked, like the brilliant and twisty Christopher Nolan-led period mystery The Prestige. Others, however, have been mere missteps that audiences could not quite sink their teeth into.

August will see many popular Netflix shows and films leaving, and many new additions making their way in. One of the latter is Hugh Jackman’s most unforgettable sci-fi thriller, Reminiscence, as per What's on Netflix. The movie had a lot of cool ideas, but the execution and poor writing failed to bring it together in a way that could save it from being purely dull. Despite having a powerful cast with actors like Rebecca Ferguson and Thandiwe Newton, Reminiscence could only make $16 million against a $54 million budget.
Three years after what felt like a bad rip-off of Strange Days, Hugh Jackman is bringing forth potentially his biggest blockbuster success with his Hollywood pal, Ryan Reynolds. Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ team-up as Wolverine and Deadpool is something Marvel fans have been dreaming of for years. Now that it is finally happening, especially within the MCU, fan interest in superhero movies has taken a huge nosedive since 2016. With the MCU’s recent string of underwhelming movies, it can not be guaranteed that Deadpool & Wolverine is the magic formula to break the studio’s dry spell. Another issue is that the movie has already created a lot of hype, particularly with the cameo teases.
If the film does not live up to the hype and delivers some underwhelming cameo appearances, it could push the billion-dollar dream further out of reach. However, given that the previous two movies made early $800 million, this superhero team-up could very well blow past the bar set by the earlier Deadpool installments. This would also possibly help fans forget the past disasters that both Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have been a part of.
