Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s drama shows no signs of fading away, and neither does the internet intend to let the whole thing slip. Though a box office hit, their movie, It Ends With Us unleashed a storm of controversies that neither of the parties could have predicted. Though Lively and Baldoni have opted to stay tight-lipped about their alleged feud, fans are working overtime to untangle who holds the moral high ground in this ongoing feud. In this tug-of-war between fan bases, it seems, Netflix has subtly taken a side.

The streaming giant recently canceled one of Justin Baldoni’s most popular projects, right in the thick of the It Ends With Us scandal.

For years, Netflix has held the streaming rights to Justin Baldoni’s most celebrated work to date, Jane the Virgin, where he played the wealthy and charismatic hotel owner, Rafael Solano. The show was a critical success, and Rotten Tomatoes awarded all five of its seasons a 100% rating. However, despite its popularity and acclaim, The Independent has confirmed that Jane the Virgin will be leaving Netflix this month.

While it is possible that Netflix has simply reached the end of its licensing agreement for the show, the timing of its removal has certainly raised a few eyebrows. The reason being- Netflix has enjoyed a long and favorable relationship with both Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. In 2022, the couple teamed up with the streaming giant to broaden its hiring pool, while also aiding underrepresented communities in securing real opportunities in the entertainment industry through their joint venture, Group Effort Initiative. And that is not all.

Netflix is adapting Marcus Kliewer’s psychological thriller novella, We Used to Live Here. And Blake Lively will once again star in and produce the adaptation. Although the project was announced three years before the It Ends With Us drama, it has recently generated buzz as Lively's next big project. In 2021, the novella was published as part of Reddit’s no sleep feature, which then caught the eye of Scott Glassgold.

Lady Killer, based on the Dark Horse Comic series, is rumored to portray Lively as the picture-perfect housewife with a hidden talent for assassination. Netflix would also bring in It Ends With Us with a digital release. While the 2024 film has become iconic in Justin Baldoni’s career for its own reasons, Jane the Virgin, the show that first created his cult following, is soon to be removed from the streaming service.
