In the wild jungle of streaming wars, Netflix is the reigning king of star power. Sure, plenty of platforms are ruthless, but no one cashes in on A-list talent like Netflix does. Not only do they snag the hottest names for their productions, but they also seem to have a knack for choosing stars who make other streamers drool. They have already bagged Ben Affleck and Matt Damon for an upcoming crime thriller, but the latest buzz just got juicier with Netflix circling a fan-favorite DCEU Kryptonian for the gritty project.

With the dynamic duo on board, the hype was already through the roof, but Netflix just dropped a power move to ensure that anticipation blasts straight into the stratosphere.

Deadline’s latest scoop informs that Sasha Calle, the breakout Supergirl from DC's The Flash, is joining the star-packed lineup for Netflix's upcoming crime thriller RIP, starring none other than besties Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. But that is not all because Teyana Taylor is also hopping on board. With Joe Carnahan directing and the powerhouse team of Affleck, Damon, Luciana Damon, and Dani Bernfeld producing under Artists Equity, this flick is shaping up to be a total knockout.

Michael Joe and Kevin Halloran from Artists Equity are stepping in as executive producers on this one too. After Ben Affleck and Matt Damon launched Artists Equity in November 2022, they dropped their first film Air in 2023, earning rave reviews and making it rain at the box office. With RIP being their eleventh Hollywood tag team, these two are gearing up to fly the flag of spooky success once again, but with Calle and Taylor now in the mix, the star power just smashed through the stratosphere.

According to Production Weekly’s issue 1422, Netflix’s crime thriller RIP officially started filming on October 2, 2024, with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon leading the charge. Filming is set to wrap by December 11, 2024. The film, based on a screenplay by Michael McGrale and produced by Dani Bernfeld, kicks off with the unsolved murder of a captain who is stuck in bureaucratic red tape for six weeks.
