Millie Bobby Brown has been absent from the small screens for a while now. Although the release of the final season of Stranger Things might be far away, Brown is set to grace the screen with a new movie, Damsel, on Netflix. While the actress will take on the role of the central character, her co-star Nick Robinson is set to play a prominent role as well. The 28-year-old actor is no stranger to success and has a track record of impressive work.

What may be surprising to know, however, is that Nick Robinson shares a connection with Millie Bobby Brown that goes beyond their upcoming co-starring movie, Damsel. 

What is Nick Robinson’s connection to Millie Bobby Brown?

Millie Bobby Brown debuted on the big screens with her standout performance in the highly successful movie Godzilla in 2021. In the movie, Brown took on the role of Madison Russell. She had ties to an organization responsible for tracking and controlling Titans (monsters) across the globe. Much like Brown, Nick Robinson also grappled with gigantic monsters in the 2015 movie Jurassic World, where he played the character Zach Mitchell. 

Jurassic World was one of Robinson’s first movies, which became the second-highest-grossing movie of the year. Both stars have already made a mark in their early silver-screen projects. However, through their upcoming movie Damsel, they will break new ground in terms of the impact of cinema on society. 

Netflix’s Damsel will defy all the prevailing norms and stereotypes attached to fairy tales and will make a deliberate effort to bring a change in the narrative. 

How Brown will break fairy-tale stereotypes with Damsel? 

Fairy tales have long downplayed the strength and autonomy of female characters. The modern-day audience would not appreciate the portrayal of princesses as passive figures in need of rescue by their princes. Netflix’s upcoming movie Damsel seeks to challenge this narrative. It will present the traditional fairy tale in a more progressive and feminist light. 

The film seeks to re-establish the authority of Damsel, played by Mille Bobby Brown. It will showcase her character as capable of saving herself from adversities. This is an emerging trope that will be explored by other upcoming movies as well, including Rachel Zegler’s 2025 movie Snow White. Despite the backlash from a section of the audience for ruining traditions with the “woke culture”, these movies promise a breath of fresh air in the long–drawn patriarchal narratives.
