Remember the days when The Witcher bewitched fans into likening it to HBO’s behemoth Game of Thrones? Well, in what started with a bang, season three of the Netflix fantasy spiraled down into a rabbit hole of disastrous criticisms. To append to its woes, thanks to dismal writing with sub-plots all over the place, lead actor Henry Cavill exited the project, much to the chagrin of fans. However, its spin-off has recently signed up a Man of Steel star along with hopes for the Superman actor’s return.

In what might well be the show’s best chance at redemption, the upcoming animation boasts a stellar storyline to get fans hooked.

In sharp contrast to its initial reception, The Witcher steadily dropped in ratings with subsequent seasons until the season three finale made history with its lowest ratings ever. Now, as reported by Redanian Intelligence, the anime spin-off titled The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep has cast Christina Wren as the voice for Essi Daven. The actress who played Major Carrie Farris in 2013’s Man of Steel will star in the show also featuring Jaskier and Geralt from the Witcherverse.

The show is set to adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story, A Little Sacrifice. The plot for the same was apparently cut from season one of the show at the last moment. While Wren voices the bard, Geralt may either be voiced by Henry Cavill or Liam Hemsworth. Since the show’s production was already underway much before the British actor’s exit, there is a good possibility of his return.

Moving on to the wider spectrum of things, The Witcher finds itself in a logger jam as the pivotal season four faces indefinite delays. Moreover, the list of wrongs it has to right is daunting. But this is for Liam Hemsworth to right.

Season three of The Witcher left fans with a potpourri of a story that had spilled all over. Along with complaints of a lacklustre goodbye to Henry Cavill, unfinished plots plagued the run. Additionally, the drastic split of Yennefer and Ciri soon after binding them close left a sour taste. In many ways, the last season stood destined for downfall even if Cavill had decided not to part ways.

Thus, when Liam Hemsworth takes over the scene, it would take much more than his physique to win fans back to his side. Coming in as a new entrant, the actor has already emulated much of Cavill’s antics. Going in hands-in-glove, the strikes may provide Netflix ample time to refine a rushed storyline and gain back its lost territory.
