With Netflix at the helm of the world’s entertainment, it is no surprise that mega-deals and strategic collaborations always make headlines. Last year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took over the world with their project, Harry & Meghan. Although their fans loved the peek into their life, others were not too pleased about the whole thing. However, now it looks as though their close friend, Tyler Perry, has gotten a deal of his own with the streamer.

While the deal may not be the filmmaker’s first run-in with the streaming giant, it could entail more work for him this time around.

Tyler Perry to follow in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s footsteps

Recently, Variety revealed that Tyler Perry had signed a multi-year deal with Netflix. The new creative partnership, teased by Ari Emanuel at Bloomberg Media’s Screentime, would see Perry write, direct, and even produce films. It is said to cover at least eight films spread out over four years. While this is not his first collaboration with the streamer, it could give fans a peek into his genius.

Previously, Perry has worked on 5 other Netflix projects, with a few A Madea Homecoming movies streaming on Netflix and the thriller Mea Culpa. While fans absolutely adored his Madea franchise, it was his role in Harry & Meghan that shocked the world. It was only then that fans truly understood how close the trio actually was.

From starring in their documentary to being one of their closest allies, Tyler Perry has become a part of the Sussex couple’s elusive American family.

What began with Thomas Markle in the spotlight paved the way for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s friendship with Tyler Perry. He made sure he was there for them every step of the way, from their press fallout to their royal exit. While it may have had something to do with his connection to the African-American struggles, they quickly formed a strong bond.

It is so strong that he was even named Princess Lilibet’s godfather after she was born in 2021. Although it may have taken a little convincing for Perry, the Duke and Duchess stayed firm in their decision. In fact, the trio even opened up about the exact conversation they had in the 2022 docuseries. Who knows, with the actor’s latest deal, fans could even get another collaboration from the trio.
