Netflix is a jack of all trades, just not in name but also in fame. The streaming sensation has earned a cult following worldwide for its fan-centric rollout mechanisms, spanning from the festive timelines to the most mundane ones. While Netflix always had a soft corner for sports-oriented projects, since its deep dive into the world of sports streaming, their love story has bloomed in more ways than one. And to keep that love ballad running, the streamer is about to bring a sports classic starring Ray Liotta and Kevin Costner this spring.
Fans have had their quota of thrilling outings this March, but April is clearing the calendar for ultimate sports madness.

March is almost at the end, and many fan-favorite programs are preparing to leave Netflix. However, instead of focusing on the soon-to-be bygones, Netflix subscribers and sports lovers can take a sigh of relief as the streaming giant steps up to bring Field of Dreams (1989) starring Kevin Costner and Ray Liotta on April 1. For the unversed, Field of Dreams is Phil Alden Robinson’s sports fantasy drama flick.

The film is based on Canadian novelist W.P. Kinsella’s 1982 novel, Shoeless Joe. Field of Dreams follows Costner, a farmer who makes a baseball field in his cornfield, attracting the ghosts of baseball icons. The flick also stars Amy Madigan, Gaby Hoffman, James Earl Jones, Timothy Busfield, Kelly Coffield Park, Burt Lancaster, Frank Whaley, Dwier Brown, Lee Garlington, Michael Milhoan, Steve Eastin, Charles Hoyes, and Art LaFleur.
Field of Dreams remains one of the most celebrated movies of the 1980s. However, it has been influential to Hollywood besides just being a blast from the past.
Field of Dreams influenced an Academy Awards format
The Academy Awards has a rich history, but 2009 marked a turning point. Breaking from tradition, five Oscar-winners from past years took the stage to introduce the nominees in each category. The audience was electrified with Meryl Streep and Brad Pitt moved with appreciation and Anna Hathaway overcome with emotions. As winners shared heartfelt group hugs, it evoked the magical sense of belonging in Field of Dreams.

Laurence Mark and Bill Condon were behind the Field of Dreams concept of the Oscar presentations. Last year, The Hollywood Reporter announced the Fab 5 format would return to the Academy Awards after 15 years. Although the Oscars are done for this year, fans can take a trip to the Field of Dreams as Netflix opens its vault for an April chapter, following the rollercoaster of streaming throughout March.
