For all its prim and propriety, period show Bridgerton does not seem to maintain its cordial relations for a very long time. With several debutant balls and one too many promenades having gone by with some of the most beloved characters missing, especially one prominent, Duke of Hastings, played by none other than the demanding Regé-Jean Page.
While the season for pairings and unions comes and goes, the audience sits with abated breaths, in wait for the shadow of the Duke to grace them one more time. But does Regé-Jean Page have different motives in mind?

With Regé-Jean Page nailing the role of the charming yet troubled Simon Basset, also christened the Duke of Hastings, it only seems fair when someone from the audience sighs wistfully at the character's stark absence from the screens. Page's presentation of Simon Basset transforming from a reluctant bachelor to a devoted husband in Bridgerton season one, is a set reason to swoon over for the spectators to this day.
While the his Britishness certainly works to be deployed in the European regencies, there might be another iconic pawn in the game that Regé-Jean Page is being urged to play.
