Netflix may have started as a DVD rental service, but as time went by, it not only went on to commemorate what has become the billion-dollar arena that is streaming services but also quickly became the dark horse at award shows with its originals which were mostly ruled by broadcasting channels. This year, continuing its tradition of featuring high-caliber talent, Netflix presents Morgan Freeman at the Emmys, taking the torch from previous luminaries like Barack Obama.

The revered actor has created a sanctuary of acclaim for himself through his performances. However, this time around, Morgan Freeman is responsible for bringing back home the trophy for Netflix through his narration.

Morgan Freeman has always had the knack of stealing the spotlight from any role he takes on. This was further proved as he earned a nomination last year by solely narrating the Chasing Starlight episode of the highly acclaimed docuseries, Our Universe. Although he did not win last year with fellow Netflix nominee Barack Obama, taking home the award for the second time in a row, this year Morgan Freeman stands as the only Netflix nominee in the Outstanding Narrator arena.

Morgan Freeman is nominated for his outstanding narration in Life on Our Planet. While this time around, he is not up against the former President of the United States, the list of nominees is as star-studded as ever. Sir David Attenborough, Angela Bassett, Paul Rudd, and Octavia Spencer, are all up this year for the Outstanding Arena award at the Emmys 2024.

In 1964, a brown-eyed gentleman named Morgan Freeman embarked on a journey that would see him ascend to the pinnacle of Hollywood. Renowned for his extraordinary versatility, Freeman has distinguished himself as one of the rare actors who defied typecasting, consistently infusing each role with a fresh and unique essence. While he was nominated before, it was only in 2004 when he claimed his first Oscar.

The actor not only has an Academy Award but also the other big three, which constitute the Tony Award, the Golden Globes Award, and the Screen Actors Guild Award. The only revered accolade missing from his decorated sanctuary is the Emmy award which he might just take home in place of Barack Obama for Netflix this year.
