In recent years, Netflix has been on a hot streak with its streaming additions. From bringing back age-old classics to brand-new additions, the streamer has given its audience everything they have wanted and more. Now, with award season finally over, it looks like the media company has plans of adding the Oscar-winning, The Boy and the Heron, to its ever-growing collection of films and shows.

While Max may have been deemed the home for all Studio Ghibli projects, it looks like the world's largest streamer has also managed to strike up a deal with the studio.

Just earlier this month, The Boy and the Heron stole hearts at the Academy Awards after bagging Best Animated Feature. Now, weeks after the film had set a release date on Max, it was revealed to be making its way to Netflix. Though the streamer has decided to bring the Oscar-winning film to its roster of blockbusters, it has not set a premiere date for the anticipated release.

The report also shared that the streamer had reached an agreement with 22 Studio Ghibli Films to extend its pre-existing contract with the animation studio. While details about the deal have not been revealed yet, it seems the media company has plans to add more exciting projects to its library. With the streamer taking over the world with its live adaption of One Piece last year, it was proved that the company was serious about its future in the anime world.

While it may be a long wait before audiences can expect to see the work of Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, and Toshio Suzuki, they have quite a few other exciting anime projects to look forward to.

Last year seemed to be a crazy year for Netflix. From insane collaborations to stunning live adaptions, the streamer went all out to keep their audiences happy. Now, after the success of its recent anime streak, it was revealed that the platform would have many new additions to its genre in 2024. Apart from continuing to work on its One Piece adaptation, there are multiple other anime series and films that they have been lined up.

Netflix ended up teasing its fans with the promise of bringing series like Pokémon Horizons: The Series, Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai, and The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse to its library. Although the first two animes left fans wanting more, they will finally be able to satisfy that craving on March 24th with the final project hitting the streamer's library.
