Amidst the ‘One Piece’ Hype, Marc Jobst Recalled His Learnings From ‘The Witcher’ Days and Henry Cavill

The American streaming giant, Netflix, faced backlash after The Witcher season 3 for various reasons. On the other hand, its recent release, One Piece, has become a sensation among anime lovers. The live-action adaptation served fans with a beautiful story along with amazing action scenes. Fans have been swooning over the characters’ stunning representation as well. However, while the credits of the success belong to the entire team of the series, the executive producer-director, Marc Jobst’s experience of working with another Netflix Original, can not be avoided.

Both Netflix shows have entirely different themes. Yet, one common element between them breathed the spirit of thrill into the live-action adaptation of the anime. Amidst the series’ success, Marc Jobst recalled his The Witcher experience and explained how he applied his learnings to his latest project.

How did Marc Jobst apply learning from The Witcher to One Piece?

Marc Jobst has also worked with Henry Cavill, who was the fan-favorite Geralt of Rivia throughout 3 seasons. During his interview with CinemaBlend, Jobst talked about the fight scenes in the One Piece adaptation. He shed light on how they choreographed those exciting scenes and made them look appealing. Giving credits to his stunt team, Jobst recalled his learnings from The Witcher fight scenes. He shared how they had an operator dedicated to the stunt team, who also learned the choreography with the camera, and would make the fights look flawless.

Praising the British actor, he also revealed, he wanted to show that kind of fluidity in this latest project as well. Additionally, he also learned the more cuts they would make, the less easy the fights looked. Therefore, instead, they kept the camera going, the more they could show, “the incredible athleticism, the choreography, the beauty of real proper fighting.”

The 62-year-old executive producer-director kept all these learnings in his mind. He applied those to the Netflix series and made the fight scenes look easy yet exciting. After the outstanding experiment with One Piece, Netflix Co-CEO Greg Peters also became a member of the fan club. With these stunning revelations by the executive producer of the series, there is also a demand for yet another season.
