Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo follow a group of misfits who band together through misadventures. While Samurai Champloo mixes hip-hop culture with the usual Samurai tropes, Cowboy Bebop is about space bounty hunters.

Both the animes might have similar characters, but the settings of the anime are quite contrasting. What stands out in both the animes is Shinichiro’s essence.

The art style

Sometimes art style or animation spoils the party for many. Animes like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure have a hyper-stylized approach that a newbie might not adapt to. However, Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop are not like them as they will be soft on your eyes. This is also one of the many reasons rookies prefer to start with these animes, and even weebs recommend them.

Action Scenes

If you are a fan of gunfights, then you should blindly opt for Cowboy Bebop. But if you are more into sword fights, then Samurai Champloo is your jam. However, both the animes have enough hand-to-hand combat to enthrall the viewers.

Mugen’s breakdance fighting might sound hilarious, but it is deadly enough to get the job done. The same goes for Spike’s Jeet Kune Do, a martial art style that heavily relies on your quick reflexes.

Episode format

Starting an anime is a commitment that not all of us are ready to make, especially if the anime has over 100 episodes. But, you won’t face this problem with either of these animes as both contain only 26 episodes. So, even if you feel like abandoning the anime to get a break, it won’t hurt you. Also, the episodes don’t follow a particular order. Therefore, you can jump anywhere you want.

Music

Anime music is some of the best music you will ever hear. Music plays an important role in anime, be it the intro theme, after credits, or the music that plays in between scenes. And these animes don’t disappoint us in this department.

Yoko Kanno’s Tank! has become a hallmark of Cowboy Bebop because of its beautiful Jazz music. Tank! even has a remix by the famous DJ Steve Aoki. On the other hand, Samurai Champloo brings the Japanese hip-hop culture to the forefront.
