‘Wednesday 2’ Turns Darker as Goth Master Tim Burton Helms the Director’s Cap
The silence surrounding Netflix's blockbuster series Wednesday's second installment had left fans on edge. However, a bombshell announcement has shattered the stillness, after all. The beloved adaptation of Charles Addams' iconic character is now all set for a thrilling resurgence. Jenna Ortega's portrayal of the iconic Wednesday Addams is about to take an intriguing turn as the show will still have the visionary collaborator by its side.
As the series prepares to delve deeper into the dark whimsy of Nevermore Academy, the mastermind behind Sleepy Hollow, and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the inimitable Tim Burton is set to weave magic.

In an exclusive interview with Collider, creator Al Gough revealed that Tim Burton is returning to direct half of Wednesday Season 2. "He's doing four [episodes]. He's doing half the season like he did in Season 1," Gough confirmed. Burton's involvement in Season 1 set the creepy and creative essence for the entire run, and his continued participation is, thus, highly anticipated.
Burton's direction in Season 1 covered the first four episodes, with Gandja Monteiro and James Marshall handling the remaining. While specifics on which episodes Burton will direct in Season 2 are unknown, his influence on the narrative is expected to remain significant. Gough and Miles Millar, Wednesday's creators, are collaborating with Burton to ensure continuity and dark whimsy in the upcoming season, building on the show's Netflix success.
Needless to say, the team is delighted to have Burton onboard with things paced up.

Al Gough gushed about Tim Burton's dedication to Wednesday, comparing it to his passion for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. “He didn't make it for any other reason than he wanted to make that movie,” he said of Burton's return for Season 2. Gough further noted how his lack of cynicism attributed it to his success. With a 40-year record track, Burton's distinctive style remains intact.
Also called the pioneer of Gothic culture, Tim Burton is drawn to projects he truly cares about, making his involvement in the series "completely Tim" and "amazing.” Meanwhile, Jenna Ortega elevated her role in Wednesday, becoming a producer for Season 2. With mid-way production already smashing records, Al Gough confirmed Tim Burton is halfway through. Filming resumed earlier this year in May with a release date still nowhere on the horizon.
