When Jimmy Fallon declared, “This is gonna be one of our best shows” this time, he was not kidding. Perhaps he did not fully anticipate what would make it the highlight, but then Zayn Malik entered the scene, and let alone fans, even Fallon could not believe his eyes. Quite casually, Malik made his entrance with a mug in one hand and an envelope in another, which Fallon later reads to announce Malik’s single ‘What I Am’ slated for a release on Friday.

Handing over the envelope to Fallon, he was even quicker to leave the sets. Hence, Fallon also announced that his album, ‘Room Under the Stairs’, will be released on May 17th. Amidst his brief presence, Malik also ensured tuning into the song in concern for the most surprising teaser of all time. With fans screaming in excitement already, one can only wonder what will unfold when the song drops on streaming platforms this Friday.

Last week, when Zayn Malik chose to archive all his posts on Instagram, fans were already over the moon with the hopes for something banging on the way. With his fourth studio album’s announcement leaning heavily to steer the anticipation wheels, Malik posted a music preview with a descriptive clip about the contents of the album. 

In the clip, he talked about the album holding a special connotation to him due to its leaning on his personal life a lot. For him, this should be his attempt to diminish any space between him and his music and his music and his fans. Since this album aims to bring focus to his “passions” and “ambitions”, his plan is to be as “raw” with its contents. While his epic release date announcement on The Tonight Show will attest to that, fans might have to wait till May 17 to witness his more real side.
