“Yeezy over everything”- Ye Slams Adidas Over Google Search Trends, Following Social Resurgence

Once upon a time in Hollywood, Kanye West, now Ye, was the mogul to weave the tapestry of showbiz with the threads of music and fashion alone. With his iconic partnership with the German giant, Adidas, the rapper brought an evolutionary sneaker line, always out of stock over non-stop demand. However, before his 18 months of creative catnap, Adidas, alongside other high-profile brands, severed ties with the rapper, closing the chapter on their collaboration to invite backlashes worldwide. Although over two years have gone by since then, the Atlanta native dropped an Adidas-sized rant on his social media shortly after his latest social revival.

Calling out the brand over a Google search trend, Ye just flipped the script on their closure.

Not so long ago, Ye pulled a vanishing act on social media just in time for the skyrocketing anticipation of ‘Bully.’ But when he came back, returned with him was a series of lamentations, with the latest falling hard on Adidas’ headquarters. He fired a shot across the digital bow, posting a Google search screenshot on Instagram that revealed Adidas’ website eclipsing his own. In a clarion call, Ye doubled down on his “Yeezy over everything” mantra, warning Adidas to cease holding him back.

Ye reiterated his frustrations with the brand over “design theft and oppression” and took a jab at Jerry Lorenzo for being “corny and disloyal” working with Adidas. The rapper clarified he no longer acts as a catalyst for other’s success, and is here to play his own game like he always had. Dubbing his $20 price tag as “burning the game to the ground,” Ye stood by his vision, claiming it would be the “only Yeezy” left in time.

In his scathing tirade, Ye pulled no punches, blasting Adidas for trying to one-up his brand and harboring Yeezy imposters who hijacked his hype to peddle their own counterfeit creations. The rapper expressed frustration over every luxury fashion house’s “marked up” price tags. Despite the tense atmosphere, Ye shared that his website earned $100 million last year within just 6 months of its launch.

Ye added that he took down the website for another 6 months to gain control and momentum of his Shopify accounts. Additionally, the rapper sold over a million pairs of YZY pods, his first drop on the website. With an update about working on 10 other designs for the past two years, the rapper ended the post by saying, “Yeezy for the people.” While the rapper may have begun with unrelenting shots, it concluded with an utmost optimism that his fans have just entered the official Yeezy era.
