Ye’s Yeezy Nostalgia Hits Hard as Fans Dismiss Adidas and Nike’s “ugly” New Launch
Ye, formerly known as Kanye West’s impact on fashion is undeniable. The rapper’s ability to merge high fashion with streetwear trends made him a true trailblazer in the fashion industry. Further, with the help of lucrative deals with fashion giants like Adidas and Nike, Ye has raked in millions over the years. However, he could not keep those partnerships going for too long. Even so, while his collaborations with these sportswear giants have certainly ended, his influence is still visible in their latest collections.
In the past 72 hours, Nike and Adidas both introduced new collections. Adidas added the Lightblaze Moc, a sleek slip-on shoe that reimagines the minimalist design of the Yeezy Foam Runner, to its line. Meanwhile, Nike brought out the ReactX Rejuvenate clogs, also a new foam technology. Both collections somehow strikingly resembled Ye’s Yeezy Crocs, and fans were quick to point it out.

While there have been several reasons for Ye’s fallout with Nike and Adidas, the latter of which has been settled recently, one constant has been the rapper’s admission of feeling creatively restricted in the partnerships. Similarly, both footwear giants have also acknowledged that working with Ye has not always been easy. Still, both companies are trying to keep the Yeezy imprint alive. But fans are not having it.
Fans have taken to X to slam both Nike and Adidas, claiming that, in their eyes, neither brand stands a chance against Yeezy.
Fans crown Ye’s Yeezy as superior to Nike and Adidas
The global sportswear industry has long been dominated by two giants- Nike and Adidas. But the only entity that has really piqued their interest is Ye, with his one-of-a-kind, high-fashion footwear designs. However, it seems their attempts to build on the remnants of their partnerships with the rapper have not been as successful as they hoped. After the release of the two new collections from Nike and Adidas, fans have been quick to criticize the sportswear moguls.
Many fans have pointed out that the Yeezy imitations are “ugly” and look like cheap knockoffs of Ye’s original vision.

Since Ye departed from Nike in 2013 and Adidas in 2022, both brands have been accused of trying to ride the coattails of the ‘Donda’ rapper’s popularity by incorporating his style into their existing models. However, with the reaction of fans to the recent launches from Nike and Adidas, they have made it clear that Ye’s Yeezy is impossible to replicate, no matter how big the brand is.
