Ye Opens Up About Creative Block, Autism, and How He Still Gets Going
Ye, formerly Kanye West, has been a magnet for controversies for ages. Even the last time the artist went MIA from the social radar, he did so with a loud, chaotic bang, drawing criticism from the industry’s bigwigs, resulting in severed ties with showbiz giants. Although critics may have expected him to lie low after 18 months of creative hiatus, when Ye returned to the fold, scandals were not far down the line. While the artist may not have addressed these issues, Ye recently shed light on certain questionable aspects, including creative roadblocks and autism.
The rapper went candid in his admission, revealing how he gets through when the storm does not subside.

After keeping his fans on the edge of their seats, Justin LaBoy finally dropped his much-hyped interview for The Download podcast with Ye on Yeezy.com. The conversation was a deep dive into the uncharted waters of the rapper’s mind, illuminating the shadows of his creative voyage. Beyond the art talk, the discussion veered into more personal terrain, including Ye’s past medication, and the long-standing rumors about his mental health, zeroing in on his presumed bipolar disorder.
Ye revealed that he had stopped taking medication after discovering that bipolar disorder was not the correct diagnosis, revealing his autism instead. LaBoy, never one to shy away from the tough questions, pressed Ye on whether he took the meds to keep his wife happy or because he truly believed they helped. But for Ye, the answer was clear: his primary concern was preserving his creative flow and artistic integrity. To him, anything that stood between him and his next masterpiece was an obstacle he was unwilling to entertain.
That said, Ye even owned up to the idea of being seen as someone “crazy,” making it clear a self-change was non-negotiable no matter the backlash.
Ye endorses the idea of crazy
When Justin LaBoy confirmed another round of interviews with Ye, fans braced themselves for twice the after-effects of their last interview. And when the teaser for the highly anticipated video surfaced on social media for The Download podcast, LaBoy asked Ye why people seemingly dub him “crazy.” The rapper did not even try to steer clear of the question but surprisingly owned to the title, admitting that it all came from him doing “crazy sh--“ in public.

The podcaster could not resist and chuckled, “Accountability in 2025!”. The teaser came hot on the heels of the Grammy shockers the Atlanta artist turned heads with alongside his wife, Bianca Censori. And it is safe to say that the teaser timing could not have been any better. Though it is unclear whether his accountability drive would address the ongoing conflicts, at least, his walk of fame comes with a candid clearance on certain important issues.
