Ye Officially Enters the Travis Scott vs. Sabrina Carpenter Charts War, Picks Sides With the ‘Days Before Rodeo’ Artist

While caught up in his feud with Taylor Swift’s fan club during the global ‘Vultures’ listening tours, Ye (formerly Kanye West) has found himself entangled in another chart battle—not as a direct contender, but as a supporter. With Travis Scott and Sabrina Carpenter vying for the top spot with their prodigious talent, the Atlanta native has shown his allegiance by boosting his hip-hop peer through standout promotions on Instagram.

Scott found a great cheerleader in one of his old friends who has not missed an opportunity to make headlines for their camaraderie.

HITS Daily Double recently suggested that Travis Scott could be a major “spoiler” to Sabrina Carpenter’s chances of reaching #1 on the Billboard 200. This is because of the tenth anniversary of Scott’s 2014 mixtape ‘Days Before Rodeo,’ which he has recently re-released with exclusive bonus tracks and an official music video. Ye further supported this notion by promoting ‘Days Before Rodeo’ on his Instagram story.

The Atlanta rapper shared the link on his story to direct fans to purchase Scott’s releases. The excitement around the mixtape was evident from the strong online reaction to the one-night-only show at the Masquerade. With Scott’s reputation for generating substantial direct-to-consumer sales and Ye’s ongoing support, Scott has attracted three times the attention, far exceeding his existing fan base.

While Ye clearly chose his side, he was not the only artist to do so; a collaborator of Ye’s was found on the opposing side of the chart wars, supporting Carpenter.

When Sabrina Carpenter released her ‘Sweet n’ Short’ album on the same day as Travis Scott’s deluxe reissue of ‘Days Before Rodeo,’ she became the primary contender for the top spot on the Billboard 200. While Ye supported Scott, his long-time collaborator (and occasional rival) Nicki Minaj was on the other side, backing Carpenter. On August 29, Carpenter tweeted, “This one's for Nicki,” and Minaj made sure to return the favor.

During an Instagram Live session, Minaj showed her support for Carpenter and encouraged fans to purchase her album. “Shout-out to Sabrina Carpenter, shout-out to all Sabrina Carpenter fans,” Minaj said. Previously, Minaj addressed Scott on her Queen Radio Show in 2018 amidst her own chart battle with Scott, criticizing him for using bundles to inflate his sales. While Ye did not attack Carpenter in his support for Scott, Minaj’s enthusiastic support for Carpenter appeared to carry a hint of that bad blood, nevertheless.
