Ye Loses a Hip-hop Award to Metro Boomin as Anticipations Rise for ‘Bully'
While 2024 has been one of the busiest years in the music arena in recent times, Hip-hop specifically met a new high after years of lull. With Travis Scott re-releasing his album, Kendrick Lamar unleashing an unprecedented attack on Drake, and most importantly, Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, making a comeback, all the stars were aligned for the year to be Hip-hop's. However, it seems since the last big reunion of the industry, a lot has changed, as evidenced by the BET Hip-hop Awards 2024.
Though neither volume of 'Vultures' managed to secure a nod for the best album, Ye made his triumphant return to awards season, arm-in-arm with Ty Dolla $ign. But as the results trickle in, one can’t help but notice that 'triumphant' may have been a bit premature.

Just how much of an impact Ye had on the music industry was perfectly capsulated in his own words at the 47th Grammy Music Awards when he said, "I guess we'll never know," in reference to him losing an award. However, as the BET Hip-hop Awards 2024 rolls around, and Future and Metro Boomin take home the award for Best Duo or Group, that is, the only category in which Ye was nominated, we have now come to know, and it is quite a bitter pill to swallow.
Ye's comeback to the music industry this year after the unannounced hiatus following his fall from grace was aided by Ty Dolla $ign who despite the lukewarm reception of the first two volumes alleges that the third is going to do the trick. And if this was a few years back, it might have done just that, however, with Ye's fight against streamers further plunging his downfall, and now him losing an award to Metro Boomin and Future, all hopes of the ultimate successful comeback fall on 'Bully'.
While Taylor Swift's frequent album releases might land her in the red, Ye fans are constantly vying for more and the artist, more often than not, obliges with a series of delays sprinkled on top. Such recurrent patterns have landed Ye at forks with 'Y3', 'Vultures Volume 3', and 'Bully'.

If fans needed any reminder of Ye's creative process, then 2024 was just that, as Atlanta rapper treated his deadlines as mere suggestions while delaying albums and even listening parties. However, with him finally looking booked and busy as he goes from holding successful performances in China to relaxing in Italy and Japan, fans are finally coming to believe the rumors of him working on other albums. However, the conundrum that remains is on which one.
Insiders have revealed how Ye is working on 'Y3', a solo album, which fans got a peak of with 'So Soon'. However, Ye himself has released 'Beauty and the Beast' for another upcoming album 'Bully'. With such different projects being in the works, fans are having a hard time believing if any of these are going to make the final cut, especially given the rapper's peculiarity for perfection.
