Ye Inches Closer to Top 3 Spot in Hip-Hop Numbers, Leaves Kendrick Lamar Behind on Spotify
After Ye, aka Kanye West, made a renaissance-like comeback to the music scene, fans were eager not just for new music but for his return to the charts. While his artistic hiatus came with other comebacks, including his social media revival and a stylish rebranding, his 'Vultures' series became the key that opened the door to his triumphant return to the top. It took a bit of time, but now his chart presence feels permanent, and just recently he even outpaced Kendrick Lamar on Spotify.
Currently, Ye is on a mission to climb even closer to the top three in hip-hop, and leaving Lamar behind might just be the first step toward that goal.

According to Spotify’s Monthly Listeners Chart, Ye has officially zoomed past Kendrick Lamar with a whopping 65,648,988 monthly listeners, leaving K-Dot in his dust with 65,536,682. Up ahead in the chart, Spotify got heavyweights Drake, Eminem, and Travis Scott holding down the top spots. With Ye passing Lamar, K-Dot has formally slipped from his comfy fourth place in hip-hop.
At the same time, Lamar has also rolled out the red carpet for Ye to make history by sneaking into the coveted top 3. Right now, Drake reigns supreme with a royal 75,407,421 monthly listeners, followed by Eminem with 75,253,952. Then there is Travis Scott trailing with 69,466,425 monthly listeners. It looks like the next target for the Atlanta rapper is Scott, whose meteoric rise on the Billboard charts turned heads recently.
While Ye is definitely eyeing Scott to secure his spot in the top 3 by overtaking Lamar, it was actually Scott who first overtook Lamar on another Spotify chart to lock in his own spot.

It looks like Ye, Travis Scott, and Kendrick Lamar are locked in a musical chess match on Spotify, with each day feeling like a crown-snatching competition. Just recently, Scott’s ‘FE!N’ flew past Lamar's legendary diss track ‘Not Like Us’, marking the first time since its release on the Global Spotify Charts. According to the NFR Podcast on X, ‘FE!N’ has officially become the most streamed rap song in the world.
Scott has been owning the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart with ‘UTOPIA,’ while Eminem’s latest drop, ‘The Death of Slim Shady,’ is hot on its heels in second place. K-Dot’s ‘DAMN’ is trailing behind, further solidifying Scott’s reign. Scott’s #1 debut on the Billboard 200 with the re-released record should have sounded the alarm for his trailblazing era, but with Ye inching closer on another chart, even Scott now has to watch out for his throne because Ye is gearing up for a ‘Vultures’ flight like no other.
