Ye, the Atlanta-born hip-hop icon formerly known as Kanye West, has been a pioneering force of the genre, credited with propelling it forward through his innovative spirit. Despite the increasing challenges of maintaining artistic relevance in showbiz’s ever-changing landscape, the rapper has remained true to his craft and momentum. Although his creative prowess has lately been under intense scrutiny, particularly with the uptick of AI-dominated conversations, his recent headlines have barely anything to do with his music, for a matter of fact.

Instead, Ye is now in hot waters with a hefty six-figure penalty hovering on his head over unpaid taxes.

According to a new report by The US Sun, Ye has defaulted on property taxes for a number of his estates, including his apartments, workspaces in LA, and the Wyoming ranch. He reportedly owes at least $365,592 for non-payments across six properties. Subsequently, the rapper is subjected to $3,272 additional fines every month. Moreover, the father of four has to pay a further $82,662 by April 10 on a few LA properties.

A failure to pay would result in more financial penalties from the Los Angeles County Treasurer and Tax Collector. Ye has additionally stacked his biggest debt yet at his $6.7 million Yeezy headquarters in West Hollywood following overdue payments of $161,071, resulting in a $1,435 penalty per month. The outlet speculates his firm, Oxpaha LLC, has not paid the property tax ever since their purchase of the property in March 2023.

More details on Ye’s backlog of bills

According to The US Sun’s report, after Ye purchased an abandoned church building for $1.5 million in Northridge in 2023, he has never paid taxes, leading to unpaid obligations worth $39,500. Furthermore, his Calabasas ranch abode has also been stung with unsettled accounts worth $94,363. For the church, the rapper has to pay a per-month penalty of $358. As for the ranch, it goes up to $1,103 per month.

Ye’s second home in Calabasas also has outstanding debts of $51,179 since 2023, with penalties of $1,013 per month. Next on the list is his Westlake three-bed townhouse for which he owes $6,240 since December. The three parcels of land linked to his ranch in Cody, Wyoming have unpaid assessments of a combined $13,215 in taxes with uncertain penalty prices. Although this wraps up his backlog of bills, that said, this brings a starter pack of more controversies packed in big bucks.
