Ye’s Grammys Reign Continues Despite His Infamous 2020 Act of Demeaning the Award Show, Fans Rejoice

When Ye (formerly Kanye West) leaped back into the limelight after a long creative catnap, he delivered fresh musical hits right off the bat, but a return to the award shows? That was a total myth. Despite his stormy history with award ceremonies, especially after his infamous 2020 takedown, his latest project, ‘Vultures,’ has officially landed at the Grammys headquarters. While the unfinished business on ‘Vultures’ still awaits a missing piece, its touchdown in Grammys charts calls for celebration, and his fans have turned X into one.

Chart Data on X recently rolled out Grammys Best Rap Song Nominees for 2025, including Rapsody and Hit-Boy’s ‘Asteroid,’ Ye, Ty Dolla $ign, Rich the Kid, and Playboi Carti’s ‘Carnival,’ Kendrick Lamar, Future, and Metro Boomin’s ‘Like That,’ Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us,’ and GloRilla’s ‘Yeah Glo!.’ While it may look like K-Dot has the upper hand in the Grammy race with two out of five nominations, Ye’s fans are believers when it comes to the Atlanta rapper’s shelves of skill, and in ‘Carnival’ they believe.

Ye's last association with the Grammys was at the 64th Annual Awards, where he tied the record for the most Grammy wins by a hip-hop artist, racking up 24 trophies. But in 2020, he caused a media storm by posting a clip where he appeared to be urinating on one of his Grammys, part of his protest to gain control over his master recordings. That move ultimately barred him from performing at the 2022 awards.

Celebrated as one of the top collectors of Grammys in music history, tying the number with Jay-Z, this return for Mr. West is like a retreat to the main field of recognition. As a result, his fans are making the most of the momentum.

Ye’s Grammy return turns into a celebration hour for his fandom online

Ye may have been MIA from the music scene before ‘Vultures.’ But his absence was never treacherous to his skills that never went out of style despite being out of contact. Especially, his ‘Carnival’ track was a Billboard chartbuster, and with its landing now confirmed in the upcoming Grammys, it will not be long before the stage inherits this celebratory energy.

Fans are convinced Ye is taking that trophy home, but a few are still holding their breath.

While many are already celebrating like it is already in the bag, Kendrick Lamar’s double nomination has some people second-guessing. In the chaotic race of artists, nothing is ever guaranteed. But with the belief Ye's fans have in him, that conviction alone is a win, trophy or not.
