Ye’s $14M Wyoming Ranch Has Changed Hands, While the Malibu Mansion Still Lies Abandoned

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is known for his architectural experiments as much as his love for indulging in luxurious automobiles. However, when it comes to maintenance, it seems that the rapper is somewhat nonchalant. Especially after he lost some of his most lucrative business collaborations, his properties were pushed into decaying. Two of Ye’s most luxurious properties have been sitting abandoned in the hunt for new buyers, for a while now. This includes his $14 million Wyoming ranch and his Malibu mansion, initially listed at $53 million and now priced down to $39 million.

On the brink of decay, one of the properties, the Wyoming ranch, has finally found a new owner after a long period of abandonment.

Ye bought the 4,524-acre ranch in Wyoming in 2019 for $8 million, originally worth $14 million. He put it on the market in 2021 for $11 million without even making any major structural additions. However, according to Hayden Outdoors, the $14 million property, also known as Monster Lake Ranch, has been sold for an unspecified amount. The ranch was also the subject of Ye’s most ambitious plans. He had envisioned working on a project “the size of a spaceship” there, as he told GQ after buying the property.

The ‘Donda’ rapper also aimed to create "dome dwellings" to curb homelessness and host his Sunday Service Choir. However, all these plans were shelved after the artist faced a massive financial rollercoaster. His net worth plummeted from $2 billion to $400 million after losing his partnership with Adidas and being boycotted by many industry giants. While the Wyoming ranch has found a new owner, his Malibu mansion, another lavish investment, continues to deteriorate day by day.

The luxurious Malibu pad was bought by Ye in 2021, just a month before he put the Wyoming ranch on the market. The rapper paid $57 million for the property back then and listed it for $53 million in 2023. However, the mansion saw a depreciation of almost 14% in its price due to its uninhabitable state. Tony Saxon, who was hired to strip out the kitchen, bathroom, and other amenities, gave a detailed account of what it was like to live in Ye’s Malibu pad.

Saxon told The New Yorker that he felt completely vulnerable to various hazards while living in the property. This included potential intruders disguised as Ye fans, whom he had to chase away constantly. Despite enduring such hazardous conditions throughout his contract, Saxon was reportedly fired by the poster boy of real estate destruction. Yet the Malibu property, once eyed for a “bomb shelter”, has bombed spectacularly in living up to expectations.
