Ye Fans Dish Out Their Opinions on Eminem’s Artistry From the Get-Go to Present

In the ever-evolving world of the record industry, endurance alone is the key to survival. But to survive, there are few ways to woo fans other than artistic finesse. Every genre of the music world has undergone evolutions of their kind. Still, in the hip-hop kingdom, some names have alone steered the wheel of revolution and the most recurring one is undeniably Ye aka Kanye West. But switching things up a bit, the die-hard fans of the rapper decided to turn their attention to another legend—Detroit's very own, Eminem, to weigh in on their thoughts.

The fan community of Ye on Reddit, GoodAssSub recently went a little off-topic to discuss all things Eminem instead of the ‘Donda’ rapper. Amidst the skyrocketing anticipation for Ye’s ‘Bully’, the fandom tried to gauge their genuine opinions on the ‘Mockingbird’ singer, navigating his craftsmanship from his early days to now. It looks like Ye was rocking the title of the most misunderstood rapper on the planet for a while, but judging by how people are talking about Eminem, that crown might be slipping right off his head.

Fans know all too well about the artistic challenges Eminem faced during the onset of his career as the white kid in the hip-hop corner. However, Ye’s fans think Eminem, aka Marshall Mathers, gets way more hate than he deserves, but some are saying that when it comes to his skills, he nailed it right on target every time. While polarity is evident from the thread, hip-hop geeks also seem of the opinion that Eminem’s career launch with the first three albums had been a sight to behold, but ever since, not so much.

So, even though the Detroit rapper had hip-hop fans losing their minds and chanting Album of the Year when he dropped ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)’ this year, some of Ye's crew still think he is not just over-hated but also overrated.

If anyone has been in the music scene long enough to stir up opinions from other artists’ fanbases, that is a clear stamp of recognition. But no fandom exists without its polar opposite, and with Ye’s fans playing judge and jury for Eminem, opinions were all over the place. While the contrasts were obvious, most fans shared a common sentiment: they are “big fan of his old stuff.” Many echoed the idea that his “first three albums are classics.”

Fans started serving up their faves, with one declaring, “MMLP one of the greatest albums of all time”. Some, however, were not as into Eminem’s artistry and aimed their critiques at his fanbase, saying they “hate most of his fans” but added that it does not change the fact that “hes still a legend”. While many agreed that the rapper has become “less relevant” over time, it is clear that Ye’s fans still hold his artistry in high regard.
