Since Ye, formerly Kanye West, made a renaissance-like comeback to the music industry following months of no-show on the radar, all fans have prayed for is for the artist to stick to his roots of artistic ingenuity. Fans had no second thoughts about his skills, but many felt his new music lacked the old spark. The conversation about whether his hiatus from music has affected his output has become increasingly heated. However, Richie Souf’s surprising disclosure about an unreleased Playboi Carti track reportedly created for ‘Donda,’ has generated newfound enthusiasm among fans, leaving them on a trip down memory lane.

An X user recently shared snippets from Playboi Carti’s unreleased track, ‘Headshot,’ produced by Richie Souf, asking about his opinions on the song. Souf reposted the snap with a response, “a great song,” revealing how it almost made it to Ye’s ‘Donda.’ Although speculation was always abundant about the track’s presumed spot on the rapper’s album, appearing on a July 21st track list in 2021, the song never made it to the album since he never recorded it.

‘Headshot’ by Playboi Carti has an intriguing history. Created in February 2020, during the V2 sessions for ‘Whole Lotta Red’ with Richie Souf, the song featured an open verse intended for Ye to record over. Following the release of ‘Whole Lotta Red,’ Carti reportedly reconsidered its inclusion in the deluxe edition but was scrapped with the rest of the deluxe. In 2021, the track was allegedly given to the ‘Vultures’ artist, but neither presumably addressed it ever again.
