Ye Fails to Lock Down Exclusive Rights to YEWS While Struggling to Revive His Yeezy Brand

Ye, formerly Kanye West, ever since making a comeback, has tried to win his star power back. Although it is undeniable that the rapper will forever be considered a musical genius, the controversies have put his financial standing at risk. Once boasting a $2 billion net worth, Ye now only has $400 million. For this very reason, and including the loss of his brainchild, the rapper has been going above and beyond to revive, Yeezy. It seems, however, that while re-building Yeezy, the rapper has lost his grip on yet another project.

Ye has lost his exclusive rights on YEWS, his latest brand, in less than a year of registering it.

Ye introduced YEWS to fans last year and has since been working to acquire trademark rights for the term YEWS. As per reports, 26 trademark applications in California have been filed by Ye to lock down YEWS rights. However, an Australian IT business soon took notice of it and launched a case against the rapper. The reason being that Alexei Kouleshov’s business, which goes by the name of Your Easy Web Solutions, is also abbreviated as YEWS.

Unfortunately, Ye could not win the battle and lost to an entity approximately 1/25th the size of his worth, getting the case its deserved title of a 'David vs Goliath' fight. This update came right after Ye quietly shut down his YEWS News platform that curated content on fashion, politics, and personal updates. While the ‘Donda’ rapper has officially lost his trademark rights over YEWS, a term he was planning to slap on just about everything, his Yeezy is not doing great either.

Ye’s Yeezy is allegedly going under some major losses that have led the brand to dramatically slash its prices.

Ye’s Yeezy website saw its prices reducing drastically to just $20 for each product, earlier this year. His Yeezy pods, which were originally worth $200, were reduced to a price of $20. All the other offerings of the brand faced the same predicament, even though the shipping cost for all orders was between $50 and $70. Nonetheless, months after slashing its prices, the Yeezy website now stands with a blank slate, with nothing to offer anymore.

Recently, Ye’s yeezy.com informed its consumers that “YZY IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING ONLINE PURCHASES.” Neither the rapper nor his representatives have yet shared a reason behind the closure of the site, that too so abruptly. However, it is possible it stemmed from his ongoing legal and financial setbacks, leading to two of the brands biting the dust.
