Ever since Ye, formerly Kanye West, decided to shed the last remnants of restraint from his persona in 2022, fans have been debating whether the rapper’s brand is on the verge of ruins. While this remains a matter of debate rather than a settled fact, there is no denying that Ye's architectural marvel in Malibu is now teetering on the edge of ruins. This reality was experienced firsthand by his estate contractor, who found himself living in the crumbling, abandoned mansion.

Despite putting himself in harm's way in what was once a beachfront paradise, the contractor did not reap the rewards he deserved.

Ye decided to renovate the 4000 square-foot, Tadao Ando-designed home before listing it on the market for $57 million. For this project, he hired contractor Tony Saxon, who was instructed to strip out the kitchen, bathroom, and other amenities. But that was not all. Saxon also had to paint over shelves, cabinets, closets, and even bathroom marbles, all on the orders of Ye’s wife, Bianca Censori, as reported by Architectural Digest. And soon, what started as a promising job quickly turned into a nightmare for Saxon.

Saxon told the New Yorker that he felt vulnerable to potential intruders while sleeping on a mattress in a corner of the main floor. He also mentioned having to chase away a few young Ye fans who seemed to be live-streaming. Despite facing such hazards, the contractor allegedly lost his job in retaliation for raising safety concerns. However, given the ‘Donda’ rapper’s track record of firing people at a moment's notice, this should not be surprising.

2022 will forever be remembered as the most chaotic year for Ye. From losing his partnership with Adidas to facing criticism from his own community, the artist faced serious consequences for forsaking diplomacy in favor of outspokenness. Amidst the controversies, many Yeezy employees spoke out against the rapper. They reported various unprofessional and questionable actions by the Yeezy mogul.

This included firing employees for wearing colored shirts or even for liking Drake’s music. He has also been compared to his friend Elon Musk, infamous for shedding his workforce in the blink of an eye. Now, it remains to be seen if the Malibu mansion will go the same way as his Yeezy brand, crumbling in the end.
