Why Is the Internet Divided Over Kanye West’s Burzum Shirt? Know It All Here
Kanye West generally parades audaciously when it comes to flaunting his sartorial statements. To the degree that his closet choices often bear resemblance not only to his fans’ wardrobe collections but even to his wife, Bianca Censori, and daughter, North West’s apparel assortments. In recent times, the frenzy has been quite over-the-board with the launch of Yeezy Pods and ‘Vultures’ merchandise. However, the boat took an opposite sail with West’s latest exhibition of a Burzum shirt, funneling the Internet in splits.
One knows Burzum for being a controversial band. However, what has that got to do with fans taking sides after West wore their t-shirt?

Amidst the chaotic delaying rollout of ‘Vultures’, a snap that has been doing rounds of the Internet features Ye wearing a t-shirt from the Norwegian black metal band, Burzum. The record producer JPEGMafia even posted himself with West on his social, sporting the same merchandise. However, the reason for the audience being polarized could be due to Burzum’s alleged history of conflicts. The band was founded by Kristian Varg Vikernes during the 1990s.
In Ye’s t-shirt as well, the face of Vikernes is clearly visible. But the personality is veiled in contention. As per official reports, Vikernes was convicted in 1994 for allegedly stabbing a musician. He also spent time in prison for 21 long years after the supposed wounding followed by his notorious behavior of reportedly burning down 3 churches. Although there have been no direct references or mentions made by Ye regarding the band, the infamous history was enough to steer a digital rift.
In fact, Ye’s t-shirt brought in a quick reminder of when a feature track of West sampled Burzum’s track back in the day.

In 2016, Gucci Mane’s song ‘Pu**y Print’ featuring Kanye West sampled Burzum’s ‘Rundgang Um Die Transzendentale Säule Der Singularität’ track from 1996. While Ye’s recent comments have got the audience speculating to find the resonance between the two, taking the nod to such far-sightedness would be like finding a needle in the haystack. Hence, there is no pinpointing of what caused the fans to be at odds.
One thing that, however, did not go amiss from the fans’ attention is the striking resemblance between the ‘Vultures’ layout and fonts with that of Burzum’s albums. Furthermore, the cover art of ‘Vultures’ also has a similar touch of artistry to that of Burzum’s over the years. Therefore, with the ample points of the coincidences becoming difficult to overlook, fans’ resorting to polarity makes all the more sense.
