West’s recent string of listening parties has consistently operated on its own schedule, diverging from the anticipated release dates promoted on social media. Originally rumored for a late 2023 drop and later tied to Kid Cudi’s ‘Insano’ album on January 12, the release is now set for February 9. Despite holding back on dropping new tracks, West has been out and about, casually connecting with fellow creatives. 

As per fresh rumors, the ‘Donda’ rapper is cooking up something with the American rapper, singer, and record producer, JPEGMAFIA. But who is this rapper that has got Kanye West fans sitting up and taking notice?

The discography of JPEGMAFIA is a powerhouse of sharp social commentary, diverse production, and clever humor. And his knack for versatility, creativity, and pushing boundaries is unparalleled in hip-hop. 

What truly got people talking recently, however, was his outspoken rants against Kanye West. In posts that have since been deleted from Twitter/X, he unleashed his frustration on Ye, criticizing how he acknowledged artists with less to offer. Although he later apologized, he did not hold back on further criticism. Within a few days, though, it seemed like they patched up their differences. JPEGMAFIA took to X, formerly Twitter, and Instagram to showcase what appeared to be a reconciliation between the two rappers.

These posts had fans on the edge of their seats, contemplating the possibility of another collaboration that could swing between iconic as hell or completely miss the mark.

Is JPEGMAFIA collaborating with Kanye West? 

On Friday, January 19, JPEGMAFIA’s X page buzzed with a recent photo featuring him and Ye. Kanye West sported a shark tooth necklace to complement a new shiny addition to his mouth, while the New York native kept it understated with a gold cross chain peeking out from his black jacket. Peggy captioned the post saying, “Vultures”, which subtly suggested a collaboration in the works with West. 

Peggy also shared the same picture on Instagram saying “Can’t talk right now. Doing hot girl s**t”. Beyond Peggy, the rumor mill hints at potential collaborations with rappers such as Channel Tres and 4Batz as well, both acknowledged fans of West. It is hardly surprising that almost every emerging rapper dreams of earning Kanye West’s nod at least once. Leveraging that, Kanye West seems fully invested in his current pursuit of partnerships with emerging talents.
