George Condo is a versatile American visual artist known for his expertise in painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking. Originally from Concord, New Hampshire, Condo now resides in New York City, a hub that complements the depth of his artistic mastery. Condo is not merely a derivative artist but a true craftsman who coined the term Artificial Realism to describe his distinctive blend of traditional European Old Master painting with an American pop sensibility.
His connection with the Atlanta rapper Ye is particularly notable. In 2010, Condo collaborated with Ye on a series of paintings for his album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' and several singles. Furthermore, Ye prominently featured a Condo painting as the cover art for his album and credits Condo with painting a Hermes Birkin Bag gifted to his then-wife, Kim Kardashian.
Condo and Ye's relationship, however, goes beyond surface appearances, enriched by their artistic synergy. Thus, there is much more than meets the eye.

George Condo's collaboration with Ye extended beyond giving an artistic makeover to his album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.' Condo also created four alternate and interchangeable versions of the album cover for the 24-times Grammy winner. While these variations did not appear on the official release cover, they were included with certain vinyl editions and individual posters.
Reportedly, each poster variation reflects themes from the album and incorporates Condo's style of psychological cubism. In a 2010 interview with Vulture, Condo acknowledged that his artwork portrays multiple versions of Ye, akin to a complex depiction reminiscent of a godlike figure. However, the final design—a depiction of a demonic caricature of Ye with a female phoenix and a bottle—was controversially censored by iTunes, resulting in a blurred version of the Condo painting for the album cover.
