It has been seven long years since Chester Bennington, the heart and soul of Linkin Park, took his final bow and crossed that big ol’ rainbow bridge. Fast forward to now, and the bandmates have finally dusted off their guitars and decided it is time for a fresh start. On Thursday, during a live performance, they introduced their new co-vocalist, Emily Armstrong from Dead Sara. Along with the big reveal, a new single, ‘The Emptiness Machine’ accompanied.
This is the band's first music drop in seven years and the lead track from their upcoming album, ‘From Zero.’ Dropping on November 15 via Warner Records, it is their first full-length since 2017’s ‘One More Light,’ which landed just two months before Chester Bennington’s passing. Enter Emily Armstrong, the LA rock powerhouse often called the “Janis Joplin for the arena rock age,” she founded Dead Sara in 2005, and with heavy influences from Nirvana and L7, she also slays on the bass.
The new track is all about channeling that classic Linkin Park vibe, and let us just say, it is a masterclass in rock Renaissance! However, Emily Armstrong is not the only new face in this exciting chapter—a fresh drummer has joined the crew to bring some serious rhythm to the mix.
