Travis Kelce is venturing into filmmaking by using President Biden’s renewable energy tax credits, as reported exclusively by Variety. Named, My Dead Friend Zoe, this independent film will be bound for the SXSW festival and welcome Kelce as the executive producer. The surplus tax credits generated by green energy entrepreneur Mike Field, who is also a producer of the film, will be the main source of finance for the movie.

Starring Natalie Morales, Ed Harris, Morgan Freeman, and Sonequa Martin-Green, the production cost of this indie film will not be more than $10 million. Apart from Kelce and Field, Ray Maiello will also serve as a producer. After wrapping My Dead Friend Zoe, the producing trio would venture into another film, King Pleasure, using the same financing strategy. While Kelce is establishing himself as a legitimate filmmaker, Swift’s decision to position herself as a director is already looking like a successful move.

Swift’s directorial vision is full of eccentricities, and she likes to play with a lot of fantastical elements. Her style, which derives its roots from her genre, country music, lays a deep focus on its characters, making the project all the more compelling and people-driven. All these factors, combined with Swift’s tremendous popularity, could mark a strong entry of the singer into the world of filmmaking, despite criticism of her snatching away chances from other creators.
