On Sunday evening, Taylor Swift took over the Grammy Awards by announcing her upcoming album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’ While that stole the show at the awards ceremony, shortly after she accepted her award for Album of the Year, the singer posted a black and white cover picture to her Instagram account. In it, she could be seen sporting some fancy lingerie from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s fashion line, according to reports from Entertainment Tonight.
Swift looked stunning in the lingerie set. However, fans were a little more focused on the fact that she had been secretly working on new music. Along with the announcement and album cover, the 34-year-old also shared some hand-written lyrics with her followers online. Although no release date has been set for the album as of yet, fans are already speculating that it might be about the singer’s ex, Joe Alwyn.
While Swift might be seeing a future with NFL star, Travis Kelce, fans have already linked the album’s title to one of Alwyn’s former group chats that became public.
Why fans think Taylor Swift’s upcoming album is about Joe Alwyn
Back in 2022, Joe Alwyn and Paul Mescal had sat down with Variety to talk about the projects they were working on. During that conversation, the actors ended up revealing that they had a group chat with Andrew Scott. The group was named The Tortured Man Club, which is rather close to Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’

While that might be the Swifties’ strongest argument, the rest of the world will have to wait for the album to be released before they judge it. However, with a title and aesthetic so grim and dark, it would make sense that the album would be about a rough breakup.
