In January 2022, Kanye West joined hands with his long-time collaborator, The Game, to create a new single titled ‘Eazy’. They named the track after the late West Coast rapper Eazy-E. It extensively used samples from his 1988 debut single ‘Eazy Duz It’, seemingly in honor of his memory. The chorus and outro of the song featured vocal pieces from American R&B singer Michel’le.

She originally performed the sample in the intro of Eazy E’s 1988 track where she sings: “He was once a thug from around the way, Eazy, but you should—”. The late singer is often referred to as the “Godfather of Gangsta Rap”. Thus, honoring his indelible contribution to the music industry, Ye and his partner channeled their inner gangsta style. The song hit Spotify on January 15, 2022, and two months later, the official music video for it came out.

Through this track, The Game also paid tribute to his mentor, Dr. Dre, who produced ‘Eazy-Duz-It’. Whereas, the Yeezy founder took a dig at Pete Davidson, who was dating his ex-wife Kim Kardashian then. In the video, the singer was seen sprinkling a bag of rose seeds over Pete’s head and watching the flowers grow. Not did the song only receive the attention of fans, but also got the approval of the famous rapper’s daughter, Ebie.

Ebie talked to TMZ after the release of the song that paid tribute to her dad. She said that Kanye West’s diss track embedded her father’s street vibes and spirit. This meant that the ‘Praise God’ singer and his collaborator lived up to his legacy. In her opinion, this song was vicious, which made it the perfect homage to her father and he would have loved to collaborate if he were still alive.

Besides this, Edie also confessed her admiration for Ye and said that she has always been a huge fan of him. For the unversed, Eazy-E passed away in 1995, but his music continued to influence the musician. Likewise, his first solo song inspired Kanye West to use his name and music style. However, the song attracted controversy because of its depiction of West burying Pete Davidson alive.
