Weeks After Taylor Swift Drama, Billie Eilish Finally Dethrones the ‘Karma’ Singer Alongside Charli XCX
Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish once had all eyes on them when they went against each other in a fan-presumed beef. Despite the time elapsed since the alleged conflict, any new developments involving the two often carry residues of that old rivalry, drawing renewed interest even with the slightest hint of drama. After Eilish, the Grammy-winning artist, and English singer-songwriter Charli XCX released a major collaboration, there was widespread speculation among netizens that it might be a subtle dig at the 34-year-old pop star.
Regardless of the intent, Eilish and Charli XCX's collaboration succeeded in drawing attention and, in a notable turn, Eilish managed to overshadow Swift by ultimately dethroning her.

Billie Eilish and Charli XCX have recently dropped a major remix single track, ‘Guess,’ leading some fans to speculate that it might be a subtle shade at Taylor Swift. No matter the aim, the track managed to create a buzz by surpassing Swift's collaboration with Ice Spice. Eilish and Charli’s remix achieved the biggest debut for an all-female remix in global Spotify chart history, with 6.857 million streams, eclipsing the 5 million streams of Swift and Spice’s ‘Karma’ remix.
Dubbed the Brat Summer by Eilish and Charli XCX, this release has left Swift's fans hoping for a quick end to the dethronement with a banging comeback. Swift, who released a new version of ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ just a day after the record was set, faced speculation that she might have tried to block Eilish and Charli’s release, though some also saw it as an attempt to undermine Ye (formerly Kanye West) and his ‘Vultures 2’ release.
In reality, Swift’s actions might not be related to either scenario, especially since she also surpassed Eilish on a Spotify list during all of this.

Taylor Swift may have narrowly missed out on setting the Spotify record for the biggest debut for an all-female remix in front of Billie Eilish, but she ultimately prevailed as the most-streamed female artist of the year. Despite their longstanding promotional partnership—highlighting Swift with exclusive features and collaborations for projects like 'The Tortured Poets Department'—this recent achievement was particularly notable as Swift earned the title with 19.06 billion streams from her 32 releases this year.
In a surprising twist, Eilish did not even secure the second spot, with Ariana Grande holding firm with 6.082 billion streams from 17 songs. Swift’s main rival, ranked third with 6.065 billion streams from just 6 songs. The gap between Swift and the second-place artist alone exceeds 12 billion streams, underscoring her significant impact. So, while Swift may have missed one accolade, she still commands a substantial lead.
