Weeks After Kendrick Lamar Called Him Out for Tupac's Ring, Drake Drops $1.75 Million for His Car

The Kendrick Lamar-Drake was never only about the two. As the days proceeded and the stack of diss guns mounted, many prominent figures, including Tupac Shakur, found a place in the chaos. After a testy dispute between the rappers, K-Dot added a new lyric during his first performance since the feud, suggesting Drizzy should return Mr. Shakur’s ring to spark a fire. However, now weeks later, Drake responded by reportedly spending a hefty sum of money to buy Tupac’s car.

To some, this might seem like a trivial gesture, but for fans familiar with the documented feud, this move could be interpreted as a direct reply to K-Dot’s remarks.

According to a recent post by The Art of Dialogue on X, Drake has reportedly purchased the car in which Tupac Shakur was shot 28 years ago for $1.75 million. This news comes on the heels of Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out: Ken & Friends concert, where he addressed Drizzy in a new lyric added to ‘Euphoria,’ suggesting he returns Mr. Shakur’s crown ring. The car in question is a 1996 black BMW 750iL sedan that closely matches the vehicle Tupac was last seen driving.

After Mr. Shakur’s death, the BMW 7 series was repaired and passed through several owners. However, it was not until five years ago that its historical significance was uncovered when a hidden compartment was discovered by a subsequent owner. By 2020, Celebrity Cars in Las Vegas listed the car for $1.75 million, and according to Car Scoops, the price remained the same as of last year.

Although the most recent resale value of the car suggests it is indeed the one Tupac drove, fans are struggling to believe this claim.

Kendrick Lamar fans are in disbelief over Drake’s latest purchase of Tupac’s car

When Kendrick Lamar performed ‘Euphoria’ with an added verse at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, on Juneteenth during The Pop Out: Ken & Friends concert, he made a big impact. By suggesting his rival, Drake, return what is seen as one of the most iconic pieces of jewelry in hip-hop history—a 14-karat crown encrusted with cabochon rubies and pave diamonds—he stirred up his fanbase. The situation was exacerbated when Drake reportedly bought Tupac’s car.

Many fans doubt that the car is the same one Tupac drove, with some arguing that the original was a four-door model, not a coupe.

Even Drake’s fans have expressed skepticism about the purchase, with some feeling let down by the car’s sale. While some think Tupac himself would have been unimpressed by the move, most find it perplexing and suspect that the timing of the purchase is too coincidental to dismiss as anything but a direct response to K-Dot's disses.
