"We want rep tv"- Fans Are Less Than Thrilled About Taylor Swift’s Third ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ Single Drop News

Published 08/24/2024, 2:08 AM EDT

Taylor Swift’s music releases have not shown any signs of slowing down since April of this year. Every month, the pop star has dropped at least one track, or a variant, if not more. This has also kept her firmly planted at the top of the charts for 14 weeks- a record that speaks for itself. Yet, despite this steady stream of musical magic flowing from her end, fans are still yearning for that one release they have been clamoring for over a year now- the re-recording version of her 2017 album, 'Reputation'.

There has been much speculation as to when Taylor Swift will finally unveil her anticipated re-record of 'Reputation'. While official updates on 'Reputation (Taylor’s Version)' are still nowhere to be seen, an insider on X, who goes by Nostradamus Insider, has hinted at the release of a third single from 'The Tortured Poets Department' this autumn. However, ever-optimistic Swifties are convinced that 'Reputation (Taylor’s Version)' is also around the corner, especially after Swift's recent performance during the Eras Tour in London.

During the show, fans noticed that Swift covered a range of songs from her career, but then came the special moment when she pulled out surprise tracks on her piano and guitar. This time, she played the last song from 'Reputation' that she had not yet performed on this tour- 'I Did Something Bad'. Naturally, this sparked hopes for an imminent 'Reputation (Taylor’s Version)' announcement, but instead, fans were greeted with another single from 'The Tortured Poets Department', which left many Swifties feeling a bit deflated.

Insider Confirms Long-Running Swifties’ Theory for Taylor Swift Album Releases and ‘Reputation TV'

Now, fans on social media are finding it quite challenging to muster any more enthusiasm for the third single release from Swift's album.

Another letdown for Taylor Swift fans anticipating 'Reputation (Taylor's Version)'

Taylor Swift’s first single from 'The Tortured Poets Department' was 'Fortnight'. It launched alongside the album and a music video, which, by the way, received some really repulsive reactions. Following that, she unveiled her second single during the European leg of the Eras Tour, 'I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,' via a message on Taylor Nation’s official account. Despite the buzz around this third single, fans clearly want something different from the pop star and they have not been shy about voicing their desires. "We want rep tv"- a fan wrote.

Some fans have been busy speculating which track from 'The Tortured Poets Department' might be next in line for the single treatment.

There is speculation that Taylor Swift might use the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on September 11 to announce 'Reputation (Taylor’s Version)', given her history of making big album reveals at award shows. But with no confirmation yet of her attendance at the event, the possibility of a 'Reputation (Taylor’s Version)' announcement at the VMAs also seems very much up in the air.
