"We still love you"- Khalid Receives an Outpouring of Love From Fans as He Publicly Comes Out After Being Outed
The process of owning one's romantic inclinations publicly is never easy. Over the years, while the legal barriers to choosing the nature of a relationship have eased, societal ones are still hanging around everywhere. That said, thanks to the entertainment industry, the taboo has definitely started to fade little by little. This year alone, more than 15 celebrities have come out of the closet. Recently, another well-known figure, Khalid, went public after facing plenty of scrutiny about his relationship interests.
Grammy-nominated Khalid recently took to X to confirm his orientation with a simple yet bold post. He shared a rainbow flag and wrote, “There yall go. next topic please lol,” putting an end to the speculation and intrusions once and for all. However, the 'Love Lies' singer was not able to share his truth on his own terms. This confession came after he was outed by a series of now-deleted posts from Hugo D. Almonte.

Almonte alleged in his posts that he was dating a “dumb” singer who tried to lie and claim he broke into his house because they broke up. After a flood of responses from netizens, some of whom quickly guessed he was talking about Khalid, Almonte confirmed their suspicions by posting a photo with the 26-year-old. In a subsequent tweet after the confession, Khalid said he “got outted” but he is "not ashamed".
This revelation has sparked an outpouring of love from fans, who have all come together to stand by Khalid.
Fans back Khalid’s coming-out with love and kindness
Since coming out on social media, Khalid has been interacting with fans and reacting to their comments on X. When one fan posted, "Wait hope Mr Khalid isn’t GEHHH!,” Khalid responded, "I am! And that’s okay". There were also some comments where fans claimed that they already knew Khalid’s orientation and the singer silenced them with a comment, saying, "I wasn’t hiding anything! It’s just not any of your business". His bold, no-nonsense replies have only made his fans show even more love and support. "We still love you," wrote a fan.
Many fans also expressed their disappointment that Khalid was outed before he had the chance to come out on his own terms.

This is the first time Khalid has openly talked about his preference, but he has always been a strong supporter of the LGBTQ+ community much like his peers like Taylor Swift. He even spoke up for the community when he was named one of Time’s Most Influential Teens of 2017. “America today feels like a scary place for many people,” he told Time. Even so, Khalid has certainly earned a whole lot of love with his coming-out confession, which has far outweighed any negativity that tried to creep in.
