The big day of the US election is finally here. While the presidential race has everyone on edge, many fans on social media are busy having a field day with election-themed memes and all kinds of hilarious content. And amid Donald Trump and Kamala Harris going head-to-head, they suddenly had a blast from the past- a moment from four years ago that is hard to forget. Yes, it was that time when Ye, aka Kanye West, decided he was presidential material- which became one of the wildest moves in both politics and pop culture.

Now, Ye has done his fair share of crazy and outrageous things, but nothing really compares to him eyeing the presidential throne. When he first announced his 2020 run, most fans assumed it was just another late-night Ye tweet- that maybe he would sleep it off by morning. But no, Ye went on to confirm in a Vanity Fair interview that he was completely serious about becoming the next US president. And with the cash he poured into his campaign in those first eight weeks, it was quite evident that he was not just talking big.

The campaign, not surprisingly, did not go very well. Ye barely made it onto the ballot in a few states and only got about 66,000 votes nationwide, even with all the media attention and big-name endorsements. Not only was his campaign a total mess, but it also turned out to be a huge financial sinkhole, with Ye reportedly draining over $7.5 million on fees. And now, the epic political flop is back in the spotlight.

Fans are taking to X to have some fun at Ye’s short, but serious attempt at running for president.

X fills with laughter as fans recall Ye’s presidential bid

Ye has always been known for his unpredictable moments. From his infamous "George Bush doesn’t care," slip in 2005 to his now-legendary "I’mma let you finish" interruption at the 2009 MTV VMAs, the rapper has built a reputation with his outrageous behavior. Now, fans cannot help but wonder what kind of stunts he might have pulled if he had really made it to the White House.

It is clear that Ye’s presidential bid is still very much fresh in the minds of many.

While Ye may have moved past his long-shot dreams of becoming president- despite his earlier tease of partcipating in the 2024 elections- that does not mean he is ignoring the 2024 US elections. Earlier this year, he made his endorsement loud and clear when asked if he would support Donald Trump in 2024. The ‘Graduation’ rapper said, "Yeah, of course, it’s Trump all day". That said, it seems Ye is likely to remain a fixture in the meme world during every election from here on.
