When the world wagged its finger at Ye aka Kanye West, alleging him of cozying up to AI like a cheat code for creativity, rather than dropping a track to silence the skeptics, he did what he does best—spiraled into a digital freefall on X. But just as fans debated whether this was raw Ye or a rogue hacker running amok on his social handles, he crowned SZA a top 5 artist in an out-of-nowhere tweet. Although it was unlike his usual X tirades, the fans' reactions were a cocktail of outrage, reluctant agreement, and the creeping suspicion that, for once, he might be right but only until he opened his mouth again.

Whether Ye is swapping artistic brilliance for algorithmic autopilot could very well be up for debate. But his social presence and X musings are sending fans to a boiling point, and his latest tweet is a prime example. The ‘Vultures’ rapper recently took X, claiming, “SZA IS TOP 5 ARTIST RIGHT NOW,” without any prefix whatsoever. Although his fans are not exactly haters of SZA per se, it looks like Ye’s erratic happy hours on X are really getting to them in the worst ways.

SZA recently made headlines with a record-shattering Super Bowl LIX halftime show with Kendrick Lamar following the record-shattering December release of ‘SOS Deluxe: LANA.’ But three years ago, when the world was dishing out negativity over the Atlanta rapper’s firing of a recording engineer after a text message thread between the two went viral, SZA stood by him, jumping in on the conversation, saying, “Sacrifices have to be made for greatness.”

Though it is unlikely that Ye’s tweet is a return gift for SZA years later, fans are nevertheless as cynical as they can be.

Ye fans take consecutive swipes at him and SZA after his endorsement

Ye has always played a kingmaker and executioner in equal measure, lifting his peers as swiftly as he cuts them down. His latest verbal blitz on X did not just ruffle industry feathers but plucked them clean, leaving behind a trail of fractured alliances, some a little close to home. But if you think Ye is up at night mourning the wreckage, think again. But it turns out, neither are the fans. Sure, they might have nodded along to his take on SZA but they doubled down, saying it was only “until you tweeted.”

Some fans turned to troll the rapper, questioning what really goes on in his mind, not even knowing who SZA is in the first place.

Meanwhile, a few of them redirected the shots at SZA, claiming she is not even close to the top 25. While it remains uncertain whether the blows aimed at SZA were merely collateral damage from Ye’s baseless antics, the thread served as a brutal reminder that fanbases can shift from devoted cheerleaders to ruthless critics the moment their idols lose sight of reality. Unfortunately, a fate Ye seems all too familiar with.
